The Lighthouse Commons

Independent Recovery Living in New Canaan, Connecticut

The Lighthouse Commons

The Lighthouse Commons offers a refined next step for individuals who are ready for more independence while remaining connected to the structure, community, and support of Lighthouse Recovery Services. Designed for clients who have stepped down from our residences or who are appropriate for a more independent recovery living environment, The Commons provides a safe, beautiful setting for continued growth.

Located in New Canaan, Connecticut, The Lighthouse Commons includes shared apartment residences for men and women. Men and women are welcome, but do not live in the same apartment. Each apartment is designed for individuals who have demonstrated continued stability and are ready to practice recovery with greater autonomy.

A More Independent Step in Recovery

The Commons is intended for individuals with at least 90 days of continued sobriety who are prepared for a lower level of daily oversight. Residents do not receive 24-hour supervision, but they remain connected to the broader Lighthouse community and expectations.

This model is ideal for individuals who are rebuilding personal, professional, and family responsibilities while still benefiting from a supportive recovery environment. It offers a meaningful balance between independence and accountability.

For many clients, this step provides the opportunity to practice recovery in real life while knowing that connection and support remain close by.

Access to the Lighthouse Community

Residents of The Lighthouse Commons have access to the programming, amenities, and community offered through the Lighthouse residences. This includes opportunities for group participation, shared meals, community events, sober activities, and continued connection with peers and staff.

Lighthouse has long believed that recovery is strengthened through community. Whether someone is having breakfast with another resident, attending a group, connecting with alumni, or participating in a sober activity, these moments help build trust, accountability, and long term support.

The Commons allows residents to remain part of that community while taking on more responsibility in their day to day lives.

Support That Continues

Recovery does not end when someone leaves a residence. The Lighthouse Commons supports the idea that recovery is an ongoing process that requires consistency, connection, and intentional planning.

Residents may continue working with recovery coaches, participating in Recovery 365, and staying connected to community support. This ongoing structure helps individuals maintain recovery goals while navigating work, family, relationships, and personal growth.

The focus is not only on maintaining sobriety. It is on building a fulfilling life in recovery.

A Thoughtful Lower Cost Option

The Lighthouse Commons offers a lower price point than the primary residences while still providing access to the broader Lighthouse recovery community. This makes it a strong option for individuals who no longer require the same level of residential oversight but still want a structured and supportive environment.

The apartments offer comfort, privacy, and connection without removing residents from real life responsibilities. It is a step forward, not a step away.

Who Is The Lighthouse Commons For?

The Lighthouse Commons may be appropriate for individuals who:

  • Have at least 90 days of continued sobriety
  • Are ready for more independent recovery living
  • Have stepped down from a Lighthouse residence or similar structured setting
  • Want continued access to Lighthouse programming and community

Each prospective resident is assessed individually to ensure The Commons is the right fit.

Recovery With Independence and Connection

The Lighthouse Commons reflects what we believe about long term recovery. People need independence, but they also need connection. They need space to rebuild their lives, but they also need access to community, support, and accountability.

This apartment living model allows residents to continue growing in a safe and supportive environment while practicing the responsibilities of independent living.

Recovery is not a single phase. It is a process of restoring wellness, rebuilding confidence, and creating a life that feels stable, meaningful, and sustainable.
